In the spirit of thanks & giving, BoomTown would like to thank those in the real estate community who have gone above and beyond to serve others in 2020.
We were thrilled with the response and the shining examples of giving back. We pledged $5 for each nomination, and with 300+ submissions, we were able to donate $2,585 to Homes for Heroes Foundation*
Congratulations to our 2020 Winners!
The Helping Hand Award: Debbie and Tony Ferrante, RE/MAX Edge Realty!
Awarding jumping into action to help family, employees, community members, organizations (etc.) in a time of need. Putting service over self and rallying behind someone less fortunate.
Nominated by a very grateful employee, we learned that Debbie and Tony took a chance on a new employee who needed a big opportunity. They hired her without any prior real estate experience, knowing she needed a new chance and some support during a difficult time. They have been like family to her, helping her to succeed and have faith in herself.
The Walk-The-Talk Award: Mario Mitchell, the Mitchell Team
Awarding actively making charitable giving a part of their business. Service and community are woven into their core values and they are committed to paying it forward.
Inspired by his own personal story and the obstacles he has overcome in his own life, Mario raises money and awareness every year for the local Men’s Shelter for the Homeless. In particular, he raises money to purchase new shoes, gather local homeless youth and adults together at the shelter, and fits them with new shoes and socks as if they’re receiving 5-star service in the shoe department at Nordstrom -- showing them special attention with kindness and dignity. This year they already have over 200 pairs to distribute.
The Creative Changemaker Award: Gabriel Deukmaji, City Smart Living
Awarding an innovative spin to giving back, going beyond a financial contribution. A bright, creative idea that made a real impact.
When the pandemic hit, Gabriel flew into action. He started a program called FrontYards 2 FrontLines, an organization that has since helped raise tens of thousands of dollars and provided meals for front line workers facing the worst of the crisis.
The Caring Companion Award: Monty, the service dog
A new addition to our award lineup, inspired by a heartwarming nomination for a service animal who perfectly exemplifies the “Give back” mentality
"Monty" is a service dog for veterans and first responders with disabilities. He works tirelessly to give back and help others every day, and his efforts have been recognized with a $500 donation to Hero Dogs.
* Homes for Heroes Foundation: Since 2009, Homes for Heroes, Inc. has helped over 40,000 heroes (firefighters, EMS, law enforcement, military, healthcare professionals, and teachers) save over $68 million on their real estate transactions, sold over $7.5 billion in real estate to heroes, actively partnered with more than 3,400 like-minded real estate and mortgage professionals who’ve joined in the mission, and donated over $821,000 to heroes in need through the Homes for Heroes Foundation
